The Gay and Melancholy Flux (1937)

GaMF coverDate:

1937

Art Credits:

Notes:

Originally published by Faber & Faber in the United Kingdom. It was a combination of stories not used in the British editions of Inhale & Exhale, Three Times Three, and The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze.

The story "Ben" was retitled from the piece "Six Hundred and Sixty Six" in Inhale & Exhale

Reviews were largely positive, with The London Times saying "Superb and almost Elizabethan exuberance...this highly individual writer at his best" while the Liverpool Daily Post said "It is the impartiality of his outlook, the large, sincere yet insatiably curious way in which he looks at life, that makes us accept him as an important writer."
